We do not recommend using GF's Gel Stain outside. If your furniture will be resting under a cover and not exposed to water, it is possible to have a successful result. With that said, we recommend our Milk Paint or Exterior 450 products instead.
Exterior 450 Water Based Wood Stains are premium quality, exterior pigmented stains designed for outdoor projects such fences, patio furniture, garage doors, entrance doors, outdoor kitchens and interior windows. It is not recommended as a deck finish. Fortified with UV absorbers to help minimize fading and maximize performance, Exterior 450's built-in mildewcide retards mold and mildew growth. They contain U.V. absorbers and mildewcides for maximum protection from the elements. Exterior 450 Stains can be applied by brush, roll or spray. You have two options: Apply two coats Exterior 450 Stain with no topcoat for a semi-transparent look or apply one coat of stain, wipe off and apply several coats of Exterior 450 Clear Finish. Available in Natural Base, Butternut, Sugar Maple, Chestnut, Cedar, Olde Cherry, Red Mahogany, Coffee Bean, Black Walnut.
