Woodworker Wednesday - Ariele Alasko

Wood you know, today is Woodworker Wednesday!  This week we're featuring Ariele Alasko, a Brooklyn-based woodworker known for her intricate, geometric patterned pieces.

Here's a little background on Ariele's process; "Her primary material of choice for her patterned work is plaster lath, small strips of wood that come from the old walls of hundred-year-old buildings here in Brooklyn. Fairly available due to the constant gutting of these old brownstones, she collects the materials, cleans it, and uses the wood's natural coloration and patina to create intricate patterns in her work."

Ariele also designed the interior of Il Vecchio, a California restaurant, using repurposed materials gathered on a cross-country drive! You can catch a glimpse of the beautiful space in the top left image.
