Lisa from General Finishes created this lovely Trumeau Mirror with Efex mouldings and General Finishes products. Trumeau mirrors are wall mirrors that were originally manufactured in France in the 18th century. The French word treameau designates the space between windows. The main purpose of a Truemau mirror was to bring more light into the room and they are usually very ornate and detailed.
Lisa first started by applying GF's new Stain Blocking Primer. She then affixed Efex moldings with contact cement to the desired locations on the mirror. Once the cement was dry, she painted a base coat if GF Limestone Chalk Style Paint on the entire piece. Next, for a decorative look she mixed Limestone, Bone White and Empire Gray Chalk Style Paint and randomly applied to the mirror in a criss-cross fashion. She also added GF Extender to the Limestone Chalk Style Paint and painted this on the mirror to create a more cohesive color layer. For an aged look, GF Espresso Water Based Wood Stain was added as a glaze coat and wiped off in spots.
That pretty gold shimmer is from GF Burnished Pearl Effects. The entire mirror was lastly given a coat of General Finishes High Performance Topcoat in Flat to keep it looking great for years to come.
