"The Distressed Gentleman is a hand painted furniture store that offers custom work, home decor and General Finishes products. Located in the historic downtown of Bristol Virginia, we got our start when I inherited some of my Grandmother's old furniture. The bones were great, but the cosmetics were awful. Being the sentimental person I am, I couldnt throw it away. I also didnt want it displayed in my house because it wasnt attractive. So I painted it. I did the dining room suite and gave it to my mother as a gift. After many compliments, some encouragement and a lot of hard work, The Distressed Gentleman was born. Two and half years later, were still going strong and loving every second of it!"
