This year's contest entries will be accepted between Monday, July 4-25. GF will post a link to the entry page on July 4th. Voting begins Tuesday, July 26 and winners will be announced the first week in August.

The Restoration Hardware look is fantastic, but the price can definitely be a turn off. But GF has good news! Anastasia Vintage has come up with a technique to acheive a Restoration Hardware inspired look using General Finishes products.

*Can I Use Steel Wool with Water Based Finishes?

No, because the particles can become embedded and rust. Some alternatives are Klingspor Synthetic Wool and Meka Mirlon 1500 synthetic wool.

Steel wool is still an acceptable option for oil-based finishes. GF recommends using "oil-free" 0000 wool from Liberon because it doesn't shred as easy as hardware store brands.
