The train painting is the first of many projects that are planned for a yearlong temporary art initiative along 20 blocks of Fond du Lac Ave.
With buckets of bright-colored paint and wide paintbrushes, dozens of volunteers took to the street Sunday and created a work of art out of an otherwise dark city intersection below a wide and low railroad viaduct.
Called "A Common Denominator," the graphic painting, made by local artists, neighbors and inmates, among others, brings a cheery choo-choo train to the corner of W. Fond du Lac Ave. and W. Locust St.

Refinished with Nutmeg Gel Stain by General Finishes. Woodworkers love the lustrous finish that emerges when rubbing out the 2nd and 3rd coats. Gel Stains are formulated to produce a durable & beautiful "hand-rubbed" finish and are heavy-bodied, so they do not penetrate as deeply as liquid oilbase stains.
